Complementary therapies

Alchemy

It may be noisy outside with every market stall playing loud music to attract customers, but once inside this yoga and meditation centre you can immediately escape the cacophony.

In addition to individual treatments such as Indian head massage or acupressure, group sessions are organised throughout the week. In the beautiful circle room, embossed with a brass loop in the wooden floor, you can take part in gentle kundalini yoga or meditation classes.

The centre is beautifully equipped with attractive changing rooms and has a small cafe selling vegan food and health drinks, including wonderfully invigorating coconut water.

St George’s Mindfulness Course

Six week evening courses in mindfulness, including relaxation and meditation take place three times a year in the lower vestry hall at the rear of one of London’s most well known Hawksmoor churches.

Even if you can’t make these classes, the church is open every afternoon with a small exhibition about the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor and Bloomsbury in the crypt.

The building was renovated a few years ago and has one of the most impressive porticos in London, inspired by the pagan Temple of Baalbed in the Lebanon.
